Alloy information:
904L is the austenitic stainless steel alloy that is developed for average to high corrosion resistance in ranges of process atmospheres. The combination of high chromium, nickel along with the addition of other alloying elements namely copper and molybdenum guarantees very good corrosion resistant ability. With the content of molybdenum of 4.5% and nickel of 25%, this alloy is providing very good chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting as well as general corrosion resistant ability. This alloy is developed so that a product can easily withstand atmospheres that are having well diluted sulfuric acid. It too offers very good resistant to inorganic acid like phosphoric acid and organic acid. This alloy can be welded easily through standard shop fabrication practices.
