Stainless Steel 309 Seamless Pipes are austenitic nickel-chromium stainless steel pipes mainly used in high-temperature applications. These alloys of pipes are used in sulfur-containing atmospheres up to 1832 degrees F. The pipes are highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation at soaring temperatures. The pipe alloy withstands high pressures and mechanical stress and can work in many corrosive and high-temperature atmospheres. However, under non-cyclic circumstances, the pipes resist excellent oxidation up to 1038 degrees C. Furthermore, these are used in slightly oxidising, thermal cycling and nitriding applications.

After long-term exposure to soaring temperatures, this pipe alloy is prone to Intergranular corrosion. Due to their chromium content, the pipes feature superior corrosion resistance to other heat-resistant alloys. The pipes exhibit good tensile strength, hardness, and toughness at elevated temperatures. Therefore, continuous and intermittent services show good scaling resistance. The pipes are formed and processed using standard fabrication practices. Hot worked at 1177 degrees C and reheated at 982 degrees C.

Moreover, these are rapidly quenched. In addition, these pipes are drawn, upset, headed and stamped. Therefore, they are annealed after the cold working process to minimise internal stress and pressures. The pipes are readily welded using the standard welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and SAW, ensuring superior weldability.
