Stainless steel 316L is one of the most commonly used austenitic stainless steel alloy. The major alloying components are chromium, molybdenum, and nickel after iron. However, the addition of alloying elements like molybdenum is providing high corrosion resistance respect to the localized attacks by the chlorides and by reducing acid to the general corrosion like sulfuric acid. 316L is alloy 316 low carbon version.
